Body found in Chapples Park identified as Braiden Jacob

Jacob, 17, was reported missing on Dec. 6

THUNDER BAY - The body found Sunday morning in Chapples Park has been identified as 17-year-old Braiden Jacob who was reported missing last week.

A source close to Jacob's family confirmed the identity with TBT News late Sunday evening.

Thunder Bay Police were called to Chapples Park Sunday morning just after 11:30 a.m. after a passerby located what they believed to be a body.

Police were holding the scene and a large area inside the park was taped off. A forensic identification van was also on site.

In a media release issued Sunday afternoon, Thunder Bay Police said the investigation is in the very early stages and no other details could be confirmed.

Jacob was first reported missing on Dec. 6 and his last reported location was in the Limbrick Street area.

Search efforts were ongoing for the last four days with volunteers assisting this weekend.
