REGINA – Trevor Bonot didn’t wait long to notch his first win at the Montana’s Brier.

Bonot, who made his debut on Saturday afternoon in Regina, scored four in the fourth end and stole three more in the fifth and went on to beat New Brunswick’s Jamie Grattan 9-4.

Bonot, lead Kurtis Byrd, second Jordan Potts and third Mike McCarville, the lone member of the team with previous Brier experience, started with hammer and blanked the first three ends before the big fourth end put them firmly in control of the match.

The two teams shook hands after the eighth.

In other action, Alberta’s Brendan Bottcher drubbed Newfoundland and Labrador’s Andrew Symonds 11-3.

Bonot takes on Symonds on Sunday at 11 a.m.  and wraps up the day against Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers squad, a team that includes former Northern Ontario, Brier and Olympic champion Brad Jacobs.

That game goes at 9 p.m.
