THUNDER BAY -- Canada Border Services Agency say on Aug. 8 officers seized a handgun and a stun gun at the Pigeon River border crossing.
A 73-year-old resident of Yankeetown, Fla. admitted to having a concealed loaded handgun, after border services officers found a list during examination which included the item: “pistol/shells.”
Border services officers seized the weapons and made an arrest.
The suspect was charged with failing to report goods, evading compliance, possession of illegally imported goods and smuggling.
A $1,000 penalty was issued for the firearm, and a $500 penalty issued for the stun gun.
The man was released on a recognizance for a first court appearance on the charges in Thunder Bay on Sept. 26.
