THUNDER BAY – Anyone with a package sitting at Ryden`s Border Store will have to wait at least another month to pick it up in person – and maybe longer.
Canada`s Public Safety Minister Bill Blair on Tuesday confirmed the country has agreed with the United States to keep the land border between the two nations closed until at least May 21.
“As cases rise and variants of concern continue to emerge across the country, we will continue to do what it takes-for as long as it takes-to keep Canadians safe,” Blair said, in a post made to his Twitter account.
The border has been closed since March 2020.
Earlier this month Liberal MP Marcus Powlowski joined a town-hall meeting held by U.S. representatives in International Falls and said he`s hopeful vaccination rates will help the border reopen sooner, rather than later, but added that time has not yet arrived.
