Bortuzzo signs two-year extension in St. Louis

Deal is worth $1.9 million over the next two seasons for the veteran defenceman, in his eighth season with the Blues.

ST. LOUIS – Thunder Bay’s Robert Bortuzzo is sticking with the St. Louis Blues for at least two more seasons.

The NHL team on Tuesday announced it has signed the veteran defenceman to a two-year extension of his three-year, $4.25-million deal that expires after the current season.

His new deal will pay him an average of $950,000 a season.

Bortuzzo, a graduate of the Fort William North Stars, has a goal and two assists in 37 games for St. Louis in 2021-22, his eighth season with the Blues.  Over his 11-year NHL career he’s played 454 games, scoring 18 times and adding 48 assists, picking up 443 penalty minutes as a mostly stay-at-home defenceman.

He won a Stanley Cup with St. Louis in 2018-19.
