THUNDER BAY -- A bottle drive originally organized by a woman involved in a serious car accident earlier this week exceeded expectations.

Ashley Hill, 24, suffered serious injuries in a Thursday morning car crash on Arthur Street near Mapleward Road. Hill, a student at Confederation College, had organized a bottle drive to be held on Saturday.

Her classmates held the event on her behalf and were overwhelmed with the support for the community, as the drive raised $2,000.

The money raised will be donated to the Grace Place Ministries for their Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser, which will be held on Feb. 21.
