Break and enter report leads to arrest, seizure of firearms

A Thunder Bay man is facing charges following an incident Thursday night on the city's south side.

Thunder Bay Police Service have arrested a 40-year-old Thunder Bay man on Thursday, May 5.

Police arrested a Thunder Bay man and seized two firearms after responding to a reported break and enter Thursday evening. 

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a residential address in the 300 block of May Street at about 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 following reports of a break and enter in progress. 

When police arrived at the scene they located a male suspect. The male was taken into custody without further incident. 

Police learned the male was in possession of two firearms. Police located and seized a rifle and a replica handgun. 

The male was transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street. 

A 40-year-old Thunder Bay man is charged with: 

• Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose 
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
• Possession of a Firearm with Knowledge its Possession is Unauthorized 

He has since been released with conditions and a future appearance date.
