THUNDER BAY -- City residents were brushing off a modest snowfall to start the week this Monday morning.

Although the nearly two centimetres of heavy wet snow that touched down in most areas of the city was light in comparison to what some winter storms are known to bring, it was nonetheless one of the more significant snowfalls of this winter season.

According to Environment Canada, the city can expect another two centimetres to touch down before Monday wraps up. The periods of light snow are expected to end sometime Monday night.

The snow is also coming with a projected high of 1C, a mild temperature that will seem cold in comparison to what could be coming late this week and into the weekend.

As of Monday morning, Environment Canada was predicting temperatures to hover above freezing with a 2C Thursday high followed by highs of 7C on Friday and Saturday.

Tuesday brings a projected high of -6C, while Wednesday is expected to feature a relatively mild -1C.

If you can’t remember the deep freeze winter of 2013, then you might be surprised to know that last year on Dec. 8,  -32C.
