The federal government’s hopes of balancing the books looks good in the short term, but appears $10 billion short in long-term projections, says Canada’s budget watchdog.

The Canadian Press reports that Kevin Page agrees with the Conservative government’s deficit projections in the next two years. But he isn’t as confident in the government’s long-term predictions, which Page calls overly optimist.
