Many people in Schreiber say they are worried following an incident where a young girl was burned after grabbing onto a live railway electrical cable on the CP line.

Canadian Pacific Railway officials say it is not clear how the girl, who is about 10 years old, was on a railway bridge in Terrace Bay on Sunday.

High voltage lines are present on CP’s corridors for signal lights and other equipment.

Residents want to know why the lines are exposed and if railway workers could be at risk too.

The girl was transported to a Winnipeg hospital for treatment.
