No job action will be taken by the city’s bus drivers Friday morning as a midnight deadline is expected to roll by with talks continuing.

Amalgamated Transit Union president Charlie Brown said Thursday afternoon that the union and city have agreed to continue negotiations and fly in a conciliator Friday morning to help talks move forward. Brown said besides that agreement, nothing more was accomplished between the two sides when they met Thursday.

"We’re not going to be pushed we’re not going to bullied and that’s exactly where we stand right now," Brown said. "As long as we’re in talks we’re not going to be taking any job action. So I’d like to assure the public right now that we won’t be out on strike or work-to-rule or any action will be taken tomorrow but we’ll have to take that day by day."

Brown said the union would give the public significant notice before any job action was taken but a specific time would depend on negotiations and what job action was taken.
