Bust results in drug seizure, 10 people arrested

Police suspected Toronto-area gang members had been using multiple units within Pearl Street apartment building for drug trafficking.

THUNDER BAY -- Ten people have been arrested and quantities of crack cocaine, morphine and Oxycodone were seized after a drug bust a north-side apartment building.

Project Disruption, a joint task force between local, regional and provincial policing agencies, raided several units in a Pearl Street apartment building on Wednesday that had been suspected to having been used by Toronto-area gang members to sell drugs with the assistance of local residents.

Officers seized a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of about $7,000, along with $40,000 in cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Five suspects from Thunder Bay and five from Toronto, including one 16-year-old, are facing multiple drug trafficking-related charges.

Anthony Wayne McCullough, 32, of Thunder Bay is charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

A 16-year-old Toronto male is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and failure to comply with sentence.

Paul Winnifred Vivier, 28, of Thunder Bay, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Jahmal Oliver Kerr, 27, of Toronto, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and probation order non-compliance.

Shahin Rashid, 26, of Toronto is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Richard Melvin Smith, 63, of Thunder Bay, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Mekhi Kyle Cuffie, 21, of Toronto, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with condition recognizance.

Daniel Ezekiel Gyan, 24, of Toronto, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with condition recognizance.

Simeon Sylvester Keno, 32, of Thunder Bay, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with condition recognizance.

Denise Yellowhead, 31, of Thunder Bay is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

All of the accused have been remanded into custody while awaiting future court dates.
