Some Thunder Bay residents may need to find an alternate walking route to Lakehead University.
One of the city's busiest trails leading to the school will be closed for the next couple of weeks.
A kilometre stretch between Riverside and Lakehead University Drives, along the McIntyre River, will be closed as of next week. The trail is going to be resurfaced and will be re-aligned to make it safer.
Crews will even out the downhill slope and soften the sharp turn at the bottom of the hill. Work is expected to be complete by the time classes resume in a couple of weeks. But alternate routes are available for residents in the meantime.
The repairs are part of the city-wide recreation trail rehabilitation project. Twenty-four out of 40 kilometres of trails in the city are getting resurfaced this summer.
