The sixth annual Inside Ride in support of Camp Quality Northwestern Ontario is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the CLE Coliseum building.
A two-hour team-building, high-energy event, the Inside Ride features teams of six cyclists riding stationary bikes for five minutes at a time. There are competitions for best team spirit, costumes, mileage and fundraising.
And to keep the energy flowing, there’ll be plenty of fast-paced and lively music blasting in the background.
Organizers said they hope to raise $25,000 for Camp Quality, which provides an opportunity for young cancer patients and their families to enjoy a week at camp with other children facing similar health issues.
“The event is a blast!” said Ashleigh Quarrell, director of Camp Quality Northwestern Ontario.
“We pump up the music and everyone cheers for everyone. It’s a fun and supportive environment to raise some important funds for our campers and awareness for our organization. We hope to see a lot of teams out and hope schools will take us up on the invitation to participate this year.”
To shake things up, the event is adding a school-age category to allow children to help other children. Schools are being invited to register as a team and the category will feature its own set of prizes. The fundraising goals are lowered to $600 per team and the school that raises the most money will win a prize to be enjoyed by all team participants.
