The federal government plans to lift requirements for fully-vaccinated travellers to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test as of April 1, according to reports in multiple news outlets citing government sources.

Travellers could still be subject to random testing, the reports note, but would no longer have to provide proof of a rapid antigen test result.

The government dropped a requirement to provide results from more reliable but harder to find and more expensive PCR tests in February, along with its advisory against non-essential international travel.

The use of the ArriveCAN app is also still expected to be required to provide proof of vaccination and other information.

The changes are expected to be announced in a press conference Thursday.
