THUNDER BAY – A COVID-19 outbreak at a Thunder Bay long-term care home continues to spread, with the company announcing over 50 residents and staff had so far tested positive Sunday morning.

The outbreak at Southbridge Roseview on Shuniah Street has led to the death of one resident, news confirmed in a brief message posted to the company's website on Saturday.

On Sunday, the company announced 36 residents and 15 staff members had tested positive for COVID-19.

Those numbers had more than doubled from just the day before, when Southbridge reported 18 residents and 6 staff positive.

The care home has approximately 157 residents and 140 staff.

The outbreak at Roseview was first declared in one unit on Nov. 18, after a staff member tested positive. The outbreak was declared facility-wide three days later, after the first cases were confirmed in residents.
