THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has ratified an agreement with its student support professionals.

THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has ratified an agreement with its student support professionals.

The board on Thursday announced the deal with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation workers, but did not reveal its contents.

“We’re extremely pleased and want to take this opportunity to thank OSSTF for negotiating in such good faith and never losing sight of what’s most important: the welfare of our children,” said director of education Pino Tassone in a release.

The union echoed his sentiment.

“We are happy to see that a number of the local concerns that our members had were addressed in this agreements,” said Maureen Denford-Cox, president of OSSTF District 6A Catholic District Student Support Professionals Bargaining Unit.

About 200 workers are covered under the agreement, including student support persons, designated early childhood educators and attendance councillors.
