Cause of Trout Lake plane crash to remain unknown for a while
The investigation continues into a pair of small plane crashes in the region.
The first plane went down last Wednesday on Trout Lake near Kenora. Two people were sent to hospital with serious injuries, including the pilot.
The Transportation Safety Board's Peter Hildebrand says they should fully recover the craft this week, but it will still be sometime before they understand why the plane went down.
“There is nothing that immediately we can point to and say ‘this is likely what has happened here,’” he said during an interview with CKPR Radio Tuesday.
“It’s going to take quite some work to find out what was going on.”
Meanwhile, Hildebrand said a wind gust caused the pilot to lose control of a plane on Pelican Lake near Sioux Lookout Sunday.
All five occupants of that plane crash escaped unharmed.
