Delegates for the Canadian Auto Workers Local 229 from across the region are holding a three-day conference in Thunder Bay this week.
The gathering is aimed at mobilizing CAW members to lobby their politicians.
Representatives from more than 40 workplaces across the Northwest are attending the conference. It's being held in preparation for the fall provincial election, and delegates are being encouraged to get involved in the political process.
Hassan Yussuff was the keynote speaker for Day 1.
He addressed the crowd about pension reform, the retirement security campaign, and the importance of lobbying politicians at all levels.
Another of Yussuff's topics was job creation and promotion.
Representatives come from a variety of fields, including health care, social services, and education.
The conference concludes on Saturday.
