Chamber, NOMA slam province over Bill 151

The province is drawing criticism from the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, NOMA and the Ontario Forest Industries Association, over Bill 151.
The province is drawing criticism from the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, NOMA and the Ontario Forest Industries Association, over Bill 151.

The organizations are unhappy with the McGuinty-led Liberal government for making decions that they say limits debate on amendments to Bill 151, the Forest Tenure Modernization Act.

The standing committee on general government met to vote on amendments Wednesday, but a move by the government to fast-track the process eliminated any opportunity to discuss or debate possible changes before the final vote.

Critics say, as a result, it remains a flawed Bill that will create uncertainty in the forest sector and will jeopardize investment and employment opportunities.
