The Thunder Bay and the Ontario Chambers of Commerce are lobbying to transform the health-care system in the province.
The local and provincial Chambers have jointly released a report outlining the need for change in the current health-care system. It marks the beginning of a year-long Health Transformation Initiative led by the Ontario Chamber.
The goal is to open a discussion between the business community and health-care industry, and work together to create a model that can meet the needs of changing demographics.
Robinson says businesses have the research and innovation that could help make health care more cost-effective, especially in Northern Ontario where health spending per capita is 2.5 times greater than the rest of the province.
