Charge laid in Pikangikum First Nation death

PIKANGIKUM FIRST NATION – An assault charge has been laid in the death of a 34-year-old man in Pikangikum First Nation earlier this month.

Ontario Provincial Police, in a release issued on Tuesday, said Kurri Turtle, 32, was arrested this past Friday and faces an assault charge.

Bronson Lee Strang was found unconscious on Aug. 19 near a school area on Airport Road in the remote community and taken to the nursing station for treatment, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation continues.
