Charges laid in series of East End break-ins

Robert Peter Bundy, 32, faces multiple charges in connection with the alleged crimes.

THUNDER BAY -- A 32-year-old Thunder Bay man is facing additional charges in conjunction with a series of break and enters in the city's East End.

Police, in a release issued on Friday, say incidents took place between Jan. 11 and Feb. 9.

The first incident, a break and enter, took place at a residential address in the 200 block of Heron Street. The accused was arrested on Feb. 9, but attempted to flee on foot. He was recaptured after a brief struggle.

As a result of the police investigation, the accused was connected to other break-ins at residential addresses in the area.

The accused was in possession of stolen property at the time of his arrest.

Robert Peter Bundy faces five counts of break and enter, five counts of possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and 10 counts of breach of probation.

After his first court appearance on Feb. 10, Bundy again appeared in court on Friday, Feb. 18 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

"Much of the stolen property seized by police has been returned to its rightful owner. However, officers are still searching for the owners of a few select items. Photos attached to this media release show a sample of stolen jewelry," police said in their release.

"If you are the owner of this stolen property, or have information that could help police identify the rightful owner, please call the TBPS non-emergency line at (807) 684-1200."

The charges have not yet been heard in court.
