THUNDER BAY -- At this time of year, little boys and girls write to Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas.

But the Canadian Forces in Thunder Bay were using a different form of communication Wednesday. School kids at Algonquin Avenue School got to participate in Operation Radio Santa.

Some were excited, others nervous, as the children took turns one by one talking on a military radio that was connected to the North Pole.

Operation Santa has been taking place in Thunder Bay for more than seven years now and military representatives will be visiting 22 schools over the next two weeks.

Corporal Shane Bureau enjoys giving back to the community in this simple, yet meaningful way.

The kids were surprised to learn that Santa already knew what they wanted for Christmas, and parents should know there were many promises of good behaviour.
