It was more muggy than muddy for Conquer the Fort at Fort William historical Park but organizers believe Saturday's run was the biggest one yet.

For the first time, 200 "little muckers" joined almost 900 adults in their own 10-obstacle course while the older muckers took on seven kilometres of trail running, including a 150-foot waterslide.

Event organizer, Sharla Brown also leads the "Dirty Girls" run and said this year's event managed to cater to everyone.

"We wanted to add something in that also includes the guys in the race. Also, we had some kids who wanted to do the race last year so we thought, 'why not create an entire course for them as well?'" she said.

"We're trying to do events that include everyone and they're very family friendly as well."

Last year's Conquer The Fort raised $68,000 for the Ontario Special Olympics. With record attendance this year, Brown believes the organization will surpass that goal, despite the 30-degree-Celcius heat. .
