The holiday season is officially here.

Santa Claus, surrounded by dozens of floats, made his way down Memorial Avenue as the main attraction in the Rotary Club’s annual Christmas Parade Saturday morning. Thousands of people lined the street to get a glimpse of the big guy as his arrival means the holidays can begin.

Randi Greer, 12, said the parade is a great way to spend the morning, just watching people hand out candy to happy children.

“It’s really fun to watch the kids, just see how happy they are,” Greer said.

Her friend Elizabeth Austin, 12, hadn’t been to the parade in nine years. She agreed it’s nice to see the kids go crazy.

“See them screaming, just so happy to see santa. It’s so cute,” she said.

Asia Gustafson, 9, and her friends were ready for Santa near the CLE grounds.

“I’ll be going crazy,” Asia said surrounded by friends who nodded their heads in agreement. “Probably screaming and yelling and jumping around.”
