City assessing service impacts of new vaccination certificates

THUNDER BAY – The Government of Ontario has announced the requirement for proof of vaccination certificates in specific settings such as restaurants, bars, sport and fitness recreational facilities, and event space among others across the province effective Sept. 22.
 
“We recognize this latest announcement will have an impact on accessing some of our public-facing programs and services specifically in the area of recreation,” said City Manager Norm Gale. “We will be reviewing the official regulations from the Ontario Government in detail to identify any changes to services. The City will comply with all provincial orders to help control the spread of COVID-19.”
 
Specific details on the impact to City services will be communicated to the public prior to the Sept. 22, implementation date. No changes will take place until the community has been notified.
