City council got a quick look at the work being done on the city’s transit master plan Monday night.
The city held a 5 p.m. meeting before city council Monday. The information compiled from public consultation meetings is now complete and the city is starting to look at route rationalization and transit options. Transit manager Brad Laroff said with over 600 online surveys completed plus feedback from the public and other transit stakeholders the information is overwhelming.
"People weighed in on all kinds of issues," said Laroff.
One main issue is whether the city will have one, two or no terminal for transit. Based on route studies, Laroff said it’s too early to tell what the recommendation will be.
"The one terminal in the Intercity area is today and has always been kind of a frontrunner on the minds of some people. We’ve learned that through the input we received. But we have been looking at other options," Laroff said.
Laroff expects the route rationalization to be completed in the next few weeks. A recommended terminal option should be ready by September when the city will hold another public consultation meeting.
A draft master plan is expected by December.
