THUNDER BAY -- Andrew Foulds says he's upset that work won't be going ahead at Boulevard Lake this year.

The city announced Tuesday that its awaiting Ministry of Environment approvals before its dam rehabilitation project can begin. The project has been put on hold before as in past years contract tenders came in higher than the budget allowed. Foulds, the councillor for Current River, said it's disappointing that the work is delayed again.

"I'm quite upset. I'm very upset at the way things have unfolded. I am deeply deeply disappointed," he said. "I think there was a hope, I think there was an anticipation that that facility was going to be fixed," he said.

As a result of the delay, the lake won't be drained this year and the dam walkway will stay open to the public.

Foulds is holding a ward meeting June 11.
