THUNDER BAY -- Elected officials returning from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario annual general meeting over the weekend will not speak to what progress was made until a press conference that’s expected to occur next week.

Councillors contacted by TBT News Thursday were not available to speak about the conference, at which municipal and provincial leaders met to discuss priorities over the coming year.

Tbnewswatch.com has obtained documents showing a list of requests the municipal delegation brought to the AMO conference.

Several councillors spoke prior to the intergovernmental affairs committee’s departure last week regarding the need for senior levels of government to support improvements to climate change infrastructure  and resources to confront the invasive Emerald Ash Borer.

The delegation intended to discuss bricks and mortar projects such as the Thunder Bay District Jail  as well as the Shelter House and homelessness prevention.

The Thunder Bay Event and Convention Centre also appears, despite the federal government insistence that the project is ineligible  for any of its infrastructure programs.

Long-standing infrastructure and energy issues addressed in the 2013 Thunder Bay Mining Readiness Strategy were also slated for discussion.
