THUNDER BAY – Local youth have access to a bevy of virtual programming in the coming days, as the City of Thunder Bay takes its Youth Week online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A series of events will offer everything from TikTok dance competitions to sacred medicine teachings with an elder.
The programming targets youth aged 12 to 24 with a focus on wellbeing, the city said, aligning with National Youth Week, which runs from May 1 to 7.
All events are free to attend, though some require registration, which closes 24 hours beforehand.
“We may have had to go virtual this year, but that won’t stop us from having fun and engaging with youth from Thunder Bay,” said Nina Arcon, the city's program supervisor of children, youth and strategic initiatives. “Now more than ever, the youth in our city need an outlet to celebrate themselves and to make connections despite the circumstances."
