THUNDER BAY – City police have charged a 20-year-old resident with possession of child pornography.
In a news release issued by the Thunder Bay Police Service Wednesday afternoon, officials confirmed that the cybercrime unit began an investigation on Feb. 25. The investigation came from a referral from the provincial strategy on child pornography.
That referral indicated that a city man had been trading child pornography images with an undercover police officer in Switzerland.
As a result of the preliminary investigation a search warrant was obtain and police raided a John Street home on April 14.
During the search of the home officers found a laptop and cell phone, which were seized.
The 20-year-old suspect, a resident of the home, was arrested.
Brandon Joey Valentino Desmoulin was escorted to the Balmoral Police station where he was charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Make Available Child Pornography.
He appeared in court and has been release with a future court date of May 12, 2015.
