City police charge two with trafficking cocaine

Two people are in custody following reports of suspicious activity.

THUNDER BAY – City police have laid charges against two individuals following reports of suspicious activity in an apartment unit believed to be vacant.

According to Thunder Bay Police, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Pearl Street on Monday just before 3 p.m. where they located a male and female inside the apartment unit.

The investigation revealed the apartment unit was vacant and the two individuals inside were not lawfully in the dwelling.

While officers were inside the apartment they found paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and apparent drugs.

Police say officers located more than $2,000 on the male.

Daniel Ezekiel Gyan, 47, of Toronto has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and being unlawfully in a dwelling.

Police also charged Barbara Rose O'Keese, of Thunder Bay with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, obstruct peace officer, being unlawfully in a dwelling and failing to comply with condition recognizance.

Both accused appeared in court Tuesday morning and were remanded into custody with a future appearance dates.
