THUNDER BAY -- City road crews are out patching potholes, trying to minimize hazards on city streets.

Roads manager Brad Adams said the city has received notice of about 150 potholes so far this spring, which puts it on par with last year.

“It’s a typical year,” he said Monday.

Because of capital expenditures into infrastructure, Adams said potholes in Thunder Bay aren’t as bad as they used to be in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but they have had to close the westbound curb-side lane of Arthur Street because of major problems with potholes.

“We can’t get water off the road because of construction from last year,” he said.

That portion of road will be closed until further notice.

People can report potholes by calling 625-2195 or submitting the information on the city website.

Adams said arterial collector streets will be patched first and then crews will focus on residential streets.
