THUNDER BAY -- The city of Thunder Bay is under a severe thunderstorm watch on Sunday afternoon.

Environment Canada reports conditions are favourable for storms that could produce winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, nickel- to ping-pong-sized hail and the risk of a tornado.

The storms are expected to develop on Sunday afternoon and track eastward along Lake Superior. The risk will diminish into Sunday evening.
