February 29, 2016 – The City of Thunder Bay has released the 2015 Drinking Water Quality Annual Report, outlining how the City’s drinking water is monitored, treated, and delivered to homes and taps,

“Our City’s water is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Michelle Warywoda, Director – Environment Division.

“This report confirms what those tests continue to show day after day – that residents can have the utmost confidence in our City’s water distribution system and the quality of the drinking water it produces.”

Under the provisions of Ontario Regulation 170/03, all municipalities must ensure that a report is prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for each calendar year.

The provincial regulations also set out mandatory treatment requirements for facilities using surface water as a source. Water samples are taken and evaluated for all parameters that can impact water quality.

Print copies of the report are available at City Hall, the Environment Division in Victoriaville Civic Centre, all branches of Thunder Bay Public Libraries, Front and Egan Service Yard located at 155 Front St., and the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant.
