THUNDER BAY -- With the rise in popularity of disc golf, the city course on the east side of Boulevard Lake is getting a major face-lift.

For the past six years, citizens of Thunder Bay have been able to enjoy playing free games of disc golf at Birch Point Park, but there have been concerns from those who walk the path near the course that they may be hit by a flying disc

So to accommodate those concerns, as well as expand, the city and the local disc golf association has redesigned the whole course making it safer as well as more challenging.

The treasurer for the Birch Point disc golf course, Phil Jamieson, said they're excited for future events they can hold at the course.

The work is just about complete, except for the new signage.

Jamieson encourages everyone to come out to the course and give the fun game a shot you just have to bring your own Frisbee or discs.
