The jobless rate in the city has improved slightly, numbers from Statistics Canada show.
The new statistics reveal that the city’s jobless rate for May was about 7.2 per cent, down from the 7.3 per cent recorded in April.
Those are slightly better numbers than the 7.4 per cent jobless rate reported as the national average. That rate is the lowest overall level in two years.
In Ontario, only Hamilton, with a 5.4 per cent jobless rate, posted more positive numbers than Thunder Bay.
