NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF THUNDER BAY
*******************

THUNDER BAY – Due to warmer weather conditions the City’s outdoor skating rinks have now closed, with the exception of the outdoor rink at Prince Arthur’s Landing.

Thunder Bay’s outdoor rinks typically close in early to mid-March. Warm temperatures and rain have significantly degraded ice conditions, signaling the end of the season. The mild weather is expected to continue this week.

“We’ve had a good, cold winter for skating and hockey,” said Cory Halvorsen, Manager – Parks & Open Spaces. “Parks staff will now be busy cleaning up the rink shacks and repairing nets for next winter.”

The City encourages residents to visit the Prince Arthur's Landing outdoor skating rink, which is set to remain open until 9 pm on Sunday, March 20.
