THUNDER BAY -- The unemployment rate for this area was at 5 per cent in December, reports Statistics Canada.
That's down from the 5.6 per cent recorded in November.
The area's jobless rate was better than the Ontario average, which was holding at a steady 7.9 per cent in December. It's also the lowest among all major cities in Ontario.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was at 7.1 per cent in December.
