City’s unemployment drops in December

The city’s jobless rate was down in December. New data from Statistics Canada shows that the Thunder Bay area reported an unemployment rate of about 5.9 per cent for December 2013. That’s down from the 6.3 per cent reported for November.

New data from Statistics Canada shows that the Thunder Bay area reported an unemployment rate of about 5.9 per cent for December 2013. That’s down from the 6.3 per cent reported for November.

The local jobless rate is among the lowest in the province, which had an average unemployment rate of 7.9 per cent in December. And that’s up from the 7.2 per cent recorded in November.

Nationally, the jobless rate for December was up to 7.2 per cent, which is up from the 6.9 per cent recorded in November 2013.
