More than 8,000 support staff workers at Ontario's 24 community colleges could be walking the picket line by Thursday morning.

The workers, who include cleaners, food service staff and registration officers, will be in a legal strike position at midnight Thursday.  While the two sides have agreed on some contract details, job security and wages have not been addressed.

At Confederation College, OPSEU Local 7-31's Elaine Kerr said she is gearing up her team of 230 workers to hit the picket lines first thing Thursday morning.  She said talks have been resolved at the 11th hour before, but this time the union is not confident a deal will be reached.

She said support staff across Ontario is ready and willing to hit the picket line.

Bargaining to reach an agreement will continue until midnight.
