Collision leads to impaired charges

A Manitouwadge resident has a court appearance next month following a single-vehicle collision early Monday morning.

MARATHON, Ont. – One woman was taken to hospital following a single-vehicle collision early Monday morning.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Monday just after 5 a.m. at Hemlo Drive.

The driver of a motor vehicle struck a lamp post at the Marathon Centre Mall, and was transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A breath demand was made, which result in a failed test.

Police charged a 39-year-old of Manitouwadge with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood concentration over 80.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17, 2021.
