Combined forces search home, finds $16K worth of drugs

THUNDER BAY -- Police seized nearly $17,000 worth of drugs after searching a South Franklin Street home Wednesday. Police officers with the combined forces organized crime unit searched the home in the 100 block of South Franklin Street.

THUNDER BAY -- Police seized nearly $17,000 worth of drugs after searching a South Franklin Street home Wednesday.

Police officers with the combined forces organized crime unit searched the home in the 100 block of South Franklin Street. Investigators say they found the home had been reinforced with extra security, including a barricaded entrance and surveillance cameras that appeared to have been installed specifically to prevent police entry.

Four occupants were found inside the home and were taken into custody. They are all being held in custody.

After searching the home police found 151 grams of cocaine in the form of both poweder and crack, 19 grams of marijuana, Oxycontin and Morphine tablets. Police say the estimated street value of the drugs seized is nearly $16,750. Police also seized about $3,690 in Canadian cash.

The following persons are facing the following criminal charges:


 

Brian Peter Zewiec, 50 years old

  • Production of  crack cocaine
  • Trafficking in cocaine, Oxycodone, morphine, and marijuana
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Proceeds of Crime
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

Dennis John Sylvester, 52 years old

  • Trafficking in cocaine
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

 


Bradley Joseph Covino, 41 years old

  • Trafficking in cocaine
  • Proceeds of Crime

Ginger Ann DESJARDINS 20 years old

  • Possession of cocaine
  • Possession of marijuana

 


Zeweic, Sylvester and Desjardins have been remanded and will appear in court Oct. 26. Covino has also been remanded and will appear in court Oct. 29.
