THUNDER BAY - It has been six years since the community garden was started on the Lakehead University campus and this year it will be growing a little bigger.
A donation from Northern Credit Union has allowed the garden to expand and allow for a Children's Garden to be added.
A celebratory barbeque and decorating party was held to mark the occasion.
Northern Credit Union delegate Patty Gates said the funds will go towards several initiatives in the garden.
The garden was started in 2010 as part of the Food Security Research Network. Under the leadership of Doctor Connie Nelson, those without space of their own, have been able to access the garden and its resources.
The garden is also slated to be on the Thunder Bay Art Gallery's Garden Tour.
