Community Living program gets $300K from province

FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- The provinces is giving Community Living Fort Frances $300,000 for programming.

FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- The provinces is giving Community Living Fort Frances $300,000 for programming.

In a news release issued Wednesday afternoon, the provincial government announced the money for Community Living would be used to promote inclusive employment and improve services for people with developmental disabilities.

The money will allow Community Living Fort Frances to:

Implement a training program for staff members on customized employment approaches

Enable staff members to work with employers to identify business needs and tailor strategies to meet these needs
Provide competitive employment positions for individuals with developmental disabilities

The agency also intends to enhance its employer outreach activities and provide resources and awareness to promote the hiring of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The fund is part of Ontario’s 2014 Budget commitment to invest $810 million over three years to build stronger services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities.
