Convenience store robbery suspect arrested

Accused arrested short distance from Circle K on Arthur Street after being tracked down by officers and K-9 unit.

THUNDER BAY -- A 19-year-old suspect is being held in custody after allegedly robbing a south side convenience store on Monday night.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the Circle K store on the 600 block of Arthur Street at about 10:30 p.m. after two suspects entered the store and demanded money and cigarettes.

The two suspects fled with cigarettes and undisclosed quantity of cash, police said in a Tuesday afternoon news release.

Officers, with assistance from their newly initiated K-9 unit, arrested one of the suspects a short distance away.

The 19-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with robbery and is being held behind bars ahead of a scheduled court appearance on Wednesday.

Police did not provide any further information about whether the second suspect is still being sought.
