(Sioux Lookout, ON) – Members of the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have requested Regional Coroner for the Northwest Region Dr. Michael Wilson to provide a presentation to local high school students and the community, discussing “Preventing Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth.”
Dr. Michael Wilson will discuss different coroner cases from his office that involve youth and their premature death brought on by alcohol. Dr. Wilson will be providing two presentations in the Sioux Lookout area on May 3, 2016.
His Schedule is as follows;
• Queen Elizabeth District High School, 15 Fair Street at 9:00 a.m.
• Pelican Falls First Nations High School, 650 Pelican Falls Road at 2:00 p.m.
With the increased statistics of alcohol related collisions in the North West Region (increased by 19%) there is a devastating effect on families, emergency service workers that attend the crashes, survivors and the community as a whole.
The Sioux Lookout OPP would like to invite the public to attend these presentations to learn the causes of youth alcohol related trauma and impaired driving occurrences, and to discuss possible solutions.
