Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue will be getting a new truck for Christmas.
City council approved the purchase of a new fire truck at Monday night’s meeting. The lowest tender for the truck came in at more than $583,000. The new truck will replace an older pumper, which will be used as a backup.
In other business, council authorized administration to create a new Municipal Contribution Agreement with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming.
The change is in reaction to an estimated loss of $78,000 as OLG implements its International Financial Reporting Standards. It’s expected that the OLG will offset the cost with a new contribution structure.
The following is administration recommended changes
• 5.25 per cent for the first $65 million of net slot revenue
• Three per cent on the next $135 million of new slot revenue plus
• 2.50 per cent on the next $300 million of net slot revenue plus
• 0.50 per cent on the remainder of net slot revenue
The new agreement would be in effect on April 1, 2013.
