THUNDER BAY -- Council ccould decide Monday to allow the former Port Arthur Prosvita to become a chain restaurant.
The building, which at one time was proposed to be the new home of the Indian Friendship Centre and the city's new youth centre, would become a Wacky Wings if council amends the city's zoning bylaw to allow a restaurant and remove its current use as a bank and cultural facility.
Along with the amendments for 540 High Street South, Wacky Wings also needs a parking lot at 538 High Street South.
If approved, Wacky Wings would have six months after council ratifies its decision otherwise it would have to start the whole process over again.
The Wacky Wings franchise began in 2007 with a location in Sault Ste. Marie.
According to the eatery's website, the company hopes to expand with new locations across Ontario and Canada.
